What do you get when you mix 130 ladies, two hours, worship, testimonies, small group fellowship, gift giveaways, and food? You get KingsWay’s By Design Summer Study!

This year, the ladies studied the amazing depth and richness of the grace found in the Christian life, benefiting from the Transforming Grace materials written by Jerry Bridges. The heart of this study may be summarized well by this statement taken from his book:

“Because we do not comprehend the superabundance of God’s grace and generosity, we ask Him for paltry blessings, the fifty-cent variety, when we could be drawing on the abundance of His riches”.

What a way to spend some of the summer - learning more about “drawing on the abundance of His riches”!

One of the highlights for us was hearing from different ladies about how they were experiencing God in their study of grace. Last summer, the value of reading Christian biographies was highlighted. Through John Piper’s teaching, we were encouraged in this, that we may “see Jesus with eyes more full of wonder than our own.” This summer, as we heard ladies share of how God has been at work in their lives, we experienced this through their testimonies. We were given the opportunity to see the beauty of Jesus through their eyes.

It’s hard to believe our study together is already over. God was kind to bless us with another summer of amazing truths from His Word, times of worship, and great fellowship

SGM Pastors College Graduation

Written by Aaron Campbell

Colleen and I had the privilege of attending the Sovereign Grace Ministries Pastors College graduation this past Sunday evening.  In the decade since my own graduation we have been able to make the trip to Gaithersburg, MD for the ceremony more years than not.

Each year we attend I experience a flood of memories and a fresh gratefulness to God for what we received there - and what the current crop of graduates has been blessed to be a part of.  We’ve celebrated with several friends from KingsWay and other regional churches over the years.

As far as schools go, it’s a unique experience: nearly 40 classes, weekly fellowship groups, care groups, research papers, Greek, and a lot of relationship building - all within the context of Covenant Life Church, and all jammed into one very packed year.

This year was a special celebration for our family in particular as my younger brother Adam took his place among the graduating class.  After interning several years at CrossWay Church in Charlotte, they sent him to the PC last fall.  He and his family will be moving to Fredericksburg to serve alongside the Delages, for which I couldn’t be more thrilled.

Pastors Pursuing Holiness!

This week the pastors joined students from the Pastors College for a class about Sanctification.  Since sanctification relates to holiness that we receive from the Gospel and pursue through the Gospel, we are, in a manner, “pursuing holiness” in the class.

Our instructor is Dr. Bruce Ware, Professor of Christian Theology at Southern Baptist Seminary and a highly esteemed theologian and author.  We chose this class because of our commitment to grow in sanctification and because we plan to teach a short series this August on sanctification as a fruit of a grace-filled walk.

The day has finally arrived…

‘Tis the season for graduations!  Whether high school or college, May and June mark a significant milestone for many families in the church.  We prayed for all the graduates during our pastor’s meeting yesterday.  King David’s words in Ps. 25 capture the essence of our desire for your experience of God during this season of transition.

“Good and upright is the LORD;
therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
He leads the humble in what is right,
and teaches the humble his way.
All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness,
for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.”

We’re rejoicing with each of you!
